Cutting Round Monel Tensile Bars

Recently, we shipped a CNC Tensilathe to a customer who was cutting, amongst other materials, Monel.  This is a very hard material to cut, but the CNC Tensilathe handled it well.  These are pictures of a shaving from the monel bar, as it was being cut; we cut it in .012″ deep passes, which would equate to approximately 10 passes for an ASTM E8 bar cut from a .750″ diameter starting piece.

Starting with an irregular bar would require more and shallower cuts, but with Tensilkut’s CNC machines, we program the specimens for your starting size and shape, and you insert the blank into the machine, select the specimen from the drop down menu on the integral computer, and walk away until the cycle is finished, and your specimen is complete.
